MEDIUMS:

Photo:

Image that is captured with a camera. It is a physical/digital representation of something captured from real life.

Rendered Image:

Image fabricated from software. It’s a 2D representation of a 3D CAD file.

Rendered Animation:

Video created from software. It’s a timeline created of motion keyframes exported the same way as rendered images, then assembled into a movie format.

3D TERMS:

CAD or 3D File:

File format from a product designer most often used by manufactures that include all geometry of the product’s appearance.

Render Passes:

Scans done by software that calculate more detail per pass. (10 passes = small detail // 200 passes = higher detail)

TEXTURES:

Reflection Level:

Value given to material surface in order to define the balance of matte/glossy.

Metal Color:

Setup used to represent life-like paint, powder coat, or even anodized results.

Fabric Weave:

Defined fabric pattern, tension, color, and fiber density.

PERSPECTIVE:

Camera:

First person view of 3D scene. Customized by focal length and depth of field.

Orthographic:

Camera perspective becomse set to zero. Basically makes scene with no vanishing points or sense of depth.

Camera Moves:

Animation keyframes attached to Perspective Camera that mimic real life orbits, pans, dollies, and standard movements.
